Car Insurance Sterling (Car Insurance). Is it better rebuilding the car battery rather than buying new one?

Is it better rebuilding the car battery rather than buying new one? 2007 Honda Civic LX, New Battery will cost me $125 I havent started it up for 5days, i tried to turn it on and the car had no battery power in it. I jump started it and it was fine until i came back after an hour and found dead too.. The car was parked during the month of Jan & Feb and i didn't disconnect the battery..

well to rebuil;d a battery u'd need special water not just any water..... but it can be bought in jugs at walmart... and acid for the battery... but then still...... there is alot more to it. just forget rebuilding. buy a new one or get one at a junk yard. believe it or not half of them are fine just from wrecked cars that had body wrecked.... i have a consuption on my mind.. u said u came back after a hour and it was dead... did u leave it running during that hour to build ur battery up or was it shut off? if u left it running then ur alternator is junk and all u did was jjump ur car it takes more power to start than to run so after u jumped it enough to get it to run it just ran till battery ran out of power... cars can run off of alternators alone so it wouldnt have died. so ur alternator could be junk have it tested for free at any auto part store. if u left it running for that hour n came back to it dead then its ur alternator bud bad idea. Buy a new battery you could burn yourself while rebuilding it. its better to spend $125 rather than hurt yourself. Seriously go to AutoZone... they can test the battery for free with it in the car...Plus their Duralast batteries have a pretty decent warranty. If you get the Duralast Gold it comes with three years free replacement and then after that say you wait 3.5 years, you can go back and they will give you money back to go towards a new battery so it wont cost so much and your warranty will start all over again. It's not a problem with your battery, it's a problem with your alternator. Get it tested. see if you can get to costco or sam clubs the batteries there are pretty cheap. gonna run you about 60 dollars or so. or you can go and buy a used, rebuilt one for about 25 dollars at places that specialize in car batteries. just make sure you take in your old one when you go so you dont get charged the core charge Hello

returning used vehicle recently bought from a dealer? i just bought a used 2009 mitsubishi outlander last friday and found out it was a rental car. i checked the car (i could have checked it before the purchase! i was so dumb i trusted them too much considering their BIG name) and i found dusts (as thick as you can imagine) everywhere even underneath the seats and inside compartments and hidden areas. looks like the car has been to the outback for months and not well taken care of. the previous owner (car rental) has its own service centre and the maintenance of the vehicle is not clearly stated. can i return the vehicle to the dealer? or demand an exchange at least? i forgot to mention the odometer reads almost 70K for two years of use from the previous owner. car insurance.

Squealing noise on 1999 Mitsubishi Galant VR4? Hey my Galant has an annoying squeal it makes when i do a full lock, I'm guessing my power steering belt is loose, but i'm not sure which belt operates the power steering as there are 2 belts next to each other. I can half twist one of the belts with my thumb and index finger which people have said is the right tension, while the other belt i could barely twist it at all, maybe too tight? also noticed the belt isn't sitting on the center of the pulley? its like to the side if you know what i mean, But my problem is I cant find a way to loosing tension on the second belt.. the first belt with tension adjuster and bolt loose i could move it higher or lower to tighten or loosen belt, as with the second one i have no clue where to find the bolts to loosen them.. Can anyone give me real good instructions as to where it is? maybe pictures too? will give 10 points to best answer :) thanks car insurance.

is possible to have BIG hydrofoil like those rivercat thing that almost completely life boat out of water? so just wondering, for a small powered boat, hydrofoil means those wings sitting on top of the propeller on the outboard motor. but when a small boat 'on a plane' it don't seem to be lift high enough. the rear end of the boat digging into water too much even with trim adjustment. so there a different kind of hydrofoil that can create more lift at speed? car insurance.

Sterling . Car Winter Storage Tips

Many drivers take their cars off the road to avoid harsh winter weather, but improper storage can lead to as much, if not more, damage than exposure to the winter elements. Taking a few critical considerations for automotive winter storage can make the springtime return to service virtually trouble free.
Clean the Interior
Pests are a major consideration in stored vehicles, and some pests can actually damage a vehicle's interior. Before storing the car for the winter, thoroughly detail all surfaces--including under the seats--to remove any residue, spills, dropped food or other scraps that may seem interesting to insects and animals seeking food and warmth during the winter. For some extra security, consider adding a couple of boxes of d-CON or other pest repellent while the car is in storage.
Consider the Elements
Even if the car is to be stored in a garage, a quality car cover likely will prevent erosion from dust, wind, sand, the sun and other natural elements. Be certain to securely attach the car cover at all latch points, as a car cover flapping in the wind can quickly scratch and damage expensive paint jobs. If the car cover is not waterproof, be sure the car is located somewhere with enough sunlight to dry any moisture that may accumulate.
Disconnect the Battery
While this step may seem like a minor consideration, car computers can become erratic and even damaged when faced with a diminished source of power. Since car electronics continue to draw a small amount of electricity even when not in use, a stored car can drain even a fresh battery in a matter of weeks. Before disconnecting the battery for storage, though, be certain to write down any radio or security codes that may be required to restore full operation in the springtime.
Take the Tires Off the Ground
If possible, and if allowed by local ordinances, consider jacking the car up and using either jack stands or concrete blocks to keep the tires off the ground. If the car is in storage more than a month and is not driven, tires may develop flat spots that create a rough ride when the car is returned to service. It may also be a good idea to reinspect tires before attempting to drive on them after storage, as dry rot can become a serious problem.

Sterling . How to Create Traction on Ice Patches

This process is an easy and inexpensive way to keep your vehicle moving on ice.
Difficulty:Easy
Instructions

Step by Step :
1
What does cats and cars have to do with each other? Answer: nothing. But unused cat litter is very benifical during winter months. We all know the main purpose of cat litter. For those of you without cats, an inexpensive bag of litter can be used to help your car drive on ice.
Purchase an inexpensive bag of cat litter.
2
Sprinkle approximately 2 cups of unused cat litter behind or in front of each tire. This will give you some traction on the ice once your are driving forward or in reverse. Use more litter if your tires start to spin.
3
Once the vehicle is moving either forward or backwards, go slowly to prevent spinning and to keep the vehicle under control. By maintaining control of your vehicle, you will prevent an accident or damage to your car.
Tips & Warnings
Remember to keep a bag of unused cat litter in the vehicle during the winter months; just in case you get stuck on ice. By having this in your vehicle, if you get stuck on ice; the litter will be a few FRESHSTEPS (cat litter brand) away, as opposed to having to call a tow truck.

There's no need to purchase expensive cat litter for this purpose. Inexpensive litter will work just as well.

Always remember, drive especially carefully on ice and in other wintery conditions.

Ultra-high performance tires have both the positive and the negative aspects of performance tires to a greater degree: They go faster, brake and handle better in wet and dry conditions, but ride less comfortably and wear out even faster. They are even wider and are usually speed-rated V or Z. * light-truck tires are intended for use on light trucks and SUVs. They come in a variety of styles designed for normal conditions, driving on- or off-road, or both. The thicker treads on the off-road variety offer better traction on unpaved surfaces. Light-truck tires also vary for carrying normal, heavy, and extra-heavy loads. Snow tires may be better than all-season tires for driving in mountainous areas with heavy snowfall, but they're noisy and don't handle as well on dry roads, so use them only when necessary. * "Run-flat" tires can be driven on without any air pressure inside the tire. Run-flat equipped vehicles may not even come with a jack or spare tire. (If you're driving a 1997 or newer Chevrolet Corvette or a similarly equipped new vehicle, you probably have this special type of radial tire.) The sidewalls have specially compounded inserts that prevent the tire from caving in when the tire loses air pressure. You can drive some run-flat tires up to 50 mph for 50 miles or more without further damaging the tire. 891 Car Insurance 2009 dodge 251514

Running on a run-flat at high speeds for a long period can damage them, so car manufacturers incorporate a warning system. For example, the Corvette has tire pressure sensors at each wheel so that the driver can be warned when one or more tires are flat. Because the driver can't feel any difference when a run-flat goes flat, a warning light illuminates on the instrument panel, signaling the driver to limit his or her driving speed and distance to avoid further damage to the tire or wheel. Before making a decision about a particular type of tire, take a close look at your driving habits: Are you hard on tires? If you tend to "burn rubber" when cornering, starting, and stopping, you know where that rubber comes from. A pair of cheaply made tires will wear out quickly, so buy the best quality you can afford. Do you drive a great deal and do most of your driving on high-speed free ways? A tire with a harder surface will take longer to wear out under these conditions. Do you drive a lot on unpaved rocky roads, carry heavy loads, or leave your car in the hot sun for long hours? You'll need higher-quality tires that

have the stamina to endure these challenges. What's the weather like in your area? Today, front-wheel drive vehicles with high-tech all-season tires get better traction than the old snow tires, which you had to replace when warm weather set in. However, if you drive under .Chapter 19: Checking Your Tires, Alignment, and Steering extreme conditions, you may want to check out tires designed for them: If it rains a lot, look for rain tires with super-wide grooves in the treads. For places with lots of snow or icy hills, look for "M+S" (mud and snow) on the sidewall. Do you drive mostly in local stop-and-go traffic, with many turns? Softer tires with wider treads will suit you best. How long do you intend to keep your car? Putting a pair of expensive tires on a vehicle that you intend to get rid of in 10,000 or 20,000 miles is foolish. Oh, it's possible to put well over 100,000 miles on a vehicle — especially if you maintain it properly — but if you have a relatively old vehicle with many miles on it already, and you don't intend to keep it very long, I wouldn't buy a pair of expensive mega-mile tires for it. Your car may surprise you and outlive its tires, but chances are that it won't. Similarly, it's foolish to put high-performance tires on a vehicle that will be driven mostly at normal speeds in city and highway traffic. On the other hand, if you intend to keep your vehicle for a few years, you'll save money in the long run by opting for more expensive, longer-lasting tires than "cheapos" or tires rated for less than 40,000 miles. Cheap tires wear out more quickly and cost more in the long run if you figure in the cost of buying, mounting, and balancing that second set. What's more, if you suffer a blowout or your tires fail to grip the road, you'll pay a great deal more if your vehicle — or you — is injured. If you drive only a couple of thousand miles a year, don't expect a pair of 40,000-mile radials to last forever. Rubber treads tend to rot eventually because of the ozone in the air, which causes cracks and hard spots in the sidewalls — a condition called ozone checking. For this reason, if you've used your tires for more than 40,000 miles, even if the treads are in good shape, have the tires checked to make sure that deteriorating rubber hasn't made them prone to blowouts and leaks. In addition to knowing which kind of tire is best for your car and understanding the tire codes (explained in the section called "The Secrets on Your Sidewalls, Revealed!"), keep the following tips in mind when you shop for tires: V You can find the proper tire size for your car in the owner's manual or on a sticker affixed to the vehicle. If neither exists, ask your dealer.

v* Although you should never buy tires that are smaller than those specified for your vehicle, you can buy tires a size or two larger (if the car's wheel clearance allows it) for better handling or load-carrying ability. However, you should buy these larger tires in pairs and place them on the same axle. Ask your mechanic or a reputable tire or auto dealer for advice about the proper size range for your vehicle. For more advice, see "Tips for Buying Tires," later in this chapter. Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System 406 V Never use two different-sized tires on the same axle. V* If you're replacing just one or two tires, put the new ones on the front for better cornering control and braking (because weight transfers to the front tires when you brake). C" If you still have bias-ply or bias-belted tires on your car, you must replace all of them at the same time with radials when they wear out. You can't mix different kinds of tires on the same vehicle; you should have the same type on all four wheels. The ride is so different that radial tires would throw your car out of alignment if you tried them in combination with the old-style tires. u* Remember that you have to "break in" new tires, so don't drive faster than 60 mph for the first 50 miles on a new tire or spare. v0 Store tires that you aren't using in the dark, away from extreme heat and electric motors that create ozone. Retreads: Bargains or blowouts? Millions of tires are discarded every year, and tires that had disintegrated on the road. But an entire industry has developed to put them today, advances in retreading have raised their back on the road by replacing the worn tread quality, and the industry's Tire Retread areas with new ones. The retreading process Information Bureau claims that retreads have involves grinding the tread off an otherwise the same 3 percent failure rate as new tires. So sound old tire and winding a strand of uncured if you're interested in recycling, you may be rubber around the tire. Then the tire is placed in motivated to buy retreads in order to reduce the a mold, where the rubber is cured under heat number of tires heading for landfills. and pressure and the tread itself is shaped.
